Abstract

Families, as a social group, have transformed and adapted throughout history to cultural, social, and structural changes, while fulfilling various functions according to the needs and individual characteristics of each member. However, despite the significant importance of their role in education, it has not seen major progress. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate and analyze the educational function of families and its impact on the comprehensive development of children.

Family guidance proposes a framework with guidelines to understand the diversity of family members, their characteristics, and parenting styles, addressing major challenges within the educational system. Strengthening the ways in which families carry out their educational role is a priority for the cognitive, emotional, and social development of young children, as it will influence them in various ways throughout their lives.

The approach used is dialectical materialism, employing theoretical-level methods such as analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive, and modeling, which facilitate the understanding of written records related to the topic in both national and international contexts. The objective is to theoretically systematize the foundations that support family guidance in their educational role. This begins with the analysis of current conceptions of families, their characteristics and parenting styles, the guidance provided to families in their educational function, and how this is addressed in early childhood to achieve effective education based on affection, respect, and cooperation among all educational members. The study concludes with the most significant findings and references for future research.
